Runopolis

Terms & Conditions

Last updated: August 23, 2026

Agreement

By accessing Runopolis, clicking “Connect with Strava”, or authorizing Runopolis in Strava, you agree to these Terms & Conditions and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the service and do not connect your Strava account.

The service

Runopolis is a public weekly leaderboard for runners and cities. We import public run activities from Strava, map start locations to a city and country, and show aggregated kilometers. Features may change, pause, or end at any time.

You agree to share your information

Runopolis is public by design. By connecting Strava you instruct and authorize us to fetch, store, process, and publicly display information from your Strava account, including:

  • Your Strava name, username, athlete id, and profile photo
  • Public run and trail-run activities we import (distance and start time)
  • City and country we derive from a start coordinate, and aggregated kilometers on leaderboards and profiles

Anyone on the internet, including search engines, may see that public information. Connecting Strava is your consent to this sharing. Do not use Runopolis if you do not want that information shown.

License

You grant Runopolis a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to use, store, copy, process, geocode, aggregate, and publicly display the Strava data described above for as long as needed to operate the service. This license ends when you delete your account or revoke Runopolis in Strava.

Accounts

You need a Strava account and must authorize the scopes we request (currently profile read and public activity read). We do not import private or followers-only activities. You are responsible for that Strava account, for what you share through it, and for keeping your authorization current. You represent that you have the right to grant us this access and to make the resulting information public on Runopolis. You must be old enough to use Strava and to agree to these terms in your jurisdiction (at least 16 where that is required).

Data comes from Strava

Athlete profile and activity data on Runopolis comes from Strava, not from sensors or GPS we operate. Distances, timestamps, names, photos, and whether an activity exists are determined by Strava and by what you (or others) record there. We may derive a city and country from a start coordinate using third-party geocoding, and we do not keep the coordinate after that. We do not independently verify Strava data and we do not promise that rankings, cities, or distances are complete or correct.

Runopolis is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Strava, Inc. Strava is a trademark of Strava, Inc. Your use of Strava remains governed by Strava’s own terms and privacy policy.

Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Abuse, scrape, or overload the service
  • Attempt to access other users’ private tokens or accounts
  • Manipulate rankings with fake or misleading activity data
  • Use the service for anything illegal or harmful

We may suspend or remove access if you break these rules.

Support

Runopolis, not Strava, provides customer and technical support for this app. See Support. Runopolis does not charge for access to Strava data or Strava functionality.

Strava availability

Runopolis depends on Strava’s APIs, webhooks, and policies. Strava may change rate limits, scopes, or availability. We are not responsible for Strava outages, delayed webhooks, missing or private activities, data gaps, or decisions Strava makes about your account.

Disclaimer

The service is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, including accuracy of Strava-sourced data, distances, city mapping, leaderboard rankings, or uninterrupted availability. Use it at your own risk.

On behalf of third-party providers (including Strava and OpenStreetMap Nominatim), we disclaim all warranties, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. Those providers are not liable for consequential, special, punitive, or indirect damages arising from your use of Runopolis.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent allowed by law, Runopolis and its operators are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost data, rankings, publicity, or opportunities, including claims that arise from Strava data, public display of your information, or third-party geocoding. Our total liability for any claim relating to the service is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim (which is zero if the service is free).

Indemnity

You will defend and indemnify Runopolis and its operators against claims, damages, and costs (including reasonable legal fees) that arise from your use of the service, your Strava account, or your decision to make Strava-sourced information public on Runopolis, except to the extent caused by our willful misconduct.

Termination

You may stop using Runopolis, delete your data in the app, or revoke access in Strava at any time. Revoking access or deleting your account removes your imported data and public rankings. We may stop providing the service or disable accounts when needed to protect the product or other users.

Changes

We may update these terms. The “Last updated” date will change when we do. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised terms.
